PEOPLE IN THE LAB
Personal: Hello! As a member of Dr. Johan Lundström’s Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab, I am involved in investigations of olfactory processing in the human brain using a variety of testing methods, from psychophysical and psychophysiological methods to neuroimaging (EEG, fMRI). Before arriving at the Monell Chemical Senses Center, I graduated from Kalamazoo College (Kalamazoo, MI) with a B.A. in Biology and Biopsychology and spent two years at the University of Chicago’s Institute for Mind and Biology (IMB). In Dr. Martha McClintock’s lab at the IMB, I worked under the supervision of Dr. Jason Yee on studies addressing the contribution of environmental stressors to the drastic difference in breast cancer incidence between African-American women and those of Northern European descent. In a rat model, we assessed the effects of stress on social behavior, lifespan, and mammary tumor development using behavioral assessments, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and necropsy. Looking ahead, I hope to combine these experiences with animal models and my growing knowledge of human chemosensory function in pursuit of a graduate degree in neuroscience and chemosensation.
